From October 27 to 29, the 2021 Annual General Meeting of the Inter-Institutional Balkan Asset Management Network (BAMIN) was held in Tirana.

Excerpts from the greeting speech at the beginning of the meeting, by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Elena Pici:

In the capacity of Chair of the Inter-Institutional Committee for Measures against Organized Crime, during the activities of this Committee, we have taken a number of important decisions, returning to the community those confiscated from crime . I have the pleasure to mention here very good examples of the application of important projects such as the ‘CAUSE’ project. We have managed to set up the first social enterprises in properties that have been confiscated from crime or to continue with other projects such as RISE Albania, or by transferring properties confiscated from crime, law enforcement institutions or local government, which uses those for social services. On the other hand, we have funded law enforcement institutions, such as the State Police, the Special Prosecution, the General Prosecution.

I would not like to dwell on figures, because I am convinced that this will be part of your work and discussions today, but just to emphasize one element, only during the first 9 months of 2021 over 18 million euros were seized criminal assets, thanks to the fight against organized crime.

In closing, I would like to wish everyone in this forum success in the most productive activities during the day and an increased cooperation in our network! Thank you.

The transfer of the presidency for 2022 to the state of Montenegro also took place.
