The Chief Administrator of the Seized and Confiscated Assets Management Agency (AAPSK), Ms. Risena Xhaja, is part of the Albanian delegation led by the Minister of Interior, Ervin Hoxha, who is participating in the Border Security Summit in the United Kingdom. During this visit, Ms. Xhaja held an important meeting with her British counterparts, which was attended by the head of the Asset Recovery office, two prosecutors and representatives of this office.
The discussions focused on the exchange of experiences and innovative ideas in the administration of seized and confiscated assets, with a special attention to the use and management of cryptocurrencies. In this context, the parties expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation in this area and to share best practices for improving existing mechanisms.
Next week, one of the British experts will visit Albania, who, in addition to participating in a joint project with the Ministry of Interior, will finalize an important meeting to establish new cooperation relations with the AAPSK. One of the main objectives of this cooperation is the training of the Agency’s staff on issues related to cryptocurrencies and the administration of digital assets.
Meanwhile, the Agency for the Administration of Sequestered and Confiscated Assets has taken important steps towards the transparency and effectiveness of the administration of these assets. Last week, for the first time, the catalog of seized assets was published, an initiative that aims to increase transparency and public access to this process. This publication follows the catalog of confiscated assets, which was presented in February of this year, and is part of a wide inventory process undertaken by the Agency.
These developments demonstrate the commitment of the AAPSK to strengthening its institutional capacities and to ensuring a more efficient and transparent administration of seized and confiscated assets, in accordance with the best international standards.
