The Chief Administrator of the Agency for the Administration of Seized and Confiscated Assets (AAPSK), Ms. Risena Xhaja, hosted in a meeting Mr. John Tacey, Head of Illicit Finance at the Western Balkans Unit at the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) of the United Kingdom.

The meeting took place at the start of the official visit to Tirana of the British expert, within the framework of the AAPSK’s commitment to further strengthen international cooperation and the implementation of best practices in the management of seized and confiscated assets.

The meeting follows the discussions held between the parties within the framework of the AAPSK’s official visit to London last month and determines the modalities for strengthening cooperation with the British authorities, as well as increasing their support in the regional framework.

During the meeting, the importance of increasing transparency and efficiency in asset management processes was highlighted, as well as the need to deepen inter-institutional and inter-state cooperation in this area. The parties shared concrete experiences and practices on the functioning of the respective mechanisms, and identified potential areas for further technical and strategic cooperation.

This dialogue represents an important step in consolidating the international relations of the AAPSK and in fulfilling its mission to guarantee the fair, efficient and transparent administration of assets that are subject to seizure or confiscation measures, in accordance with the legislation in force and the best European standards.
