The Agency for the Administration of Seized and Confiscated Assets (AAPSK), with the support of the EU4LAW ENFORCEMENT project, funded by the European Union and the German Government, today finalized the three-day workshop on Cryptocurrencies and Virtual Assets, with a special focus on the management of cryptoassets in the context of seizure and confiscation.
This training activity, developed with the participation of international experts such as Richard Strike and Andrew Tennant, aimed to increase the capacities of AAPSK staff and administrators involved in the management of digital assets, including ways to track, seize and securely store cryptoassets.
The training included essential topics such as the difference between traditional currencies (FIAT) and cryptocurrencies, the structure of digital wallets and the security of “recovery seeds”, blockchain technology and cryptography, as well as international legislation on VASPs and the risks of money laundering through cryptoassets.
During the workshop sessions, special attention was paid to the processes of sequestration, storage and realization of cryptoassets, focusing also on mechanisms for preserving value, increasing benefits and safe strategies for their sale or conversion.
This activity follows on from the previous training conducted in collaboration with UNICEF and is part of the ongoing efforts of AAPSK to ensure professional and up-to-date administration of seized or confiscated assets, in accordance with the latest technological developments and international standards.
