AAPSK and UNICEF strengthen cooperation, training on cryptocurrencies for use with social impact

The Agency for the Administration of Sequestered and Confiscated Assets (AAPSK), in collaboration with UNICEF Albania, organized a training to build the capacities of AAPSK staff in identifying innovative solutions through the Human-Centered Design model of UPSHIFT, with a special emphasis on the management of cryptocurrencies for social impact.
This initiative comes as part of an ongoing partnership between the two institutions that aims to use seized and confiscated assets for social purposes, especially in helping children in need. The training focused on the use of crypto in the service of social causes was attended by about 21 employees from AAPSK and other law enforcement institutions.
The opening of the activity was greeted by Ms. Risena Xhaja, Chief Administrator of AAPSK, Mr. Murat Sahin, UNICEF Representative in Albania, as well as Mr. Christopher Fabian from GIGA – UNICEF Global Innovation Office.
This training included basic knowledge on the functioning of blockchain technology and digital wallets, as well as international best practices for using crypto funds for direct social impact. In particular, the focus was on the creation of a “Crypto Reserve Fund for Children”, a unique model that aims to turn confiscated digital assets into funds that support the well-being and rights of children in Albania.

Gjatë sesionit të specializuar mbi kriptovalutat, pjesëmarrësit nga AAPSK dhe institucionet e tjera patën mundësi të përfitojnë njohuri të rëndësishme praktike dhe teorike, si:

Hapat teknikë për hapjen dhe menaxhimin e portofolëve elektronikë (wallets), përfshirë ruajtjen e sigurt të çelësave dhe përdorimin e USB-ve për akses të sigurt në asetet digjitale;
Kuptimi i mënyrës së konvertimit të kriptomonedhave në monedha fiat dhe lidhja e këtij procesi me burimet financiare shtetërore;
Njohja me praktikat ndërkombëtare nga BE dhe OECD për përdorimin e fondeve në kripto në mbështetje të programeve sociale dhe të fëmijëve;
Diskutim mbi modelin për krijimin e një fondi të rezervës për fëmijët me burim nga kriptomonedhat e konfiskuara, si një praktikë që mund të shërbejë si shembull edhe për vende të tjera.

Ky trajnim shënon një hap të rëndësishëm drejt rritjes së kapaciteteve institucionale për të përdorur asetet moderne në shërbim të të mirës publike, me fokus të veçantë te fëmijët dhe të rinjtë.
